Iberdrola Espana Expands its Partnership With Mercadona With Renewable Energy Purchase Agreements for Over 300 MW for the Next Decade

Iberdrola España, the Iberdrola subsidiary in the country and Mercadona have expanded their partnership with the signing of long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for more than 300 MW, associated with wind and solar assets, for Mercadona's logistics centres and supermarkets.

Both companies have been working for years to advance their services’. The energy group is responsible for the supply, commissioning and operation of up to 3,500 charging points in 800 supermarkets in Spain and Portugal. The addition of these new charging points for electric vehicles is a major step forward in the expansion of the public charging network.

Iberdrola has extensive experience in PPAs. The company manages power purchase agreements in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Australia for onshore and offshore wind and photovoltaic projects. Europe's leading electricity company by market capitalisation and the second largest in the world, it has been offering innovative PPA proposals for over a decade.

Iberdrola has announced agreements with major companies such as Amazon, with which it has signed wind and photovoltaic PPAs in Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom for the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm. It has also signed agreements with other global customers like Google, Bayer, BP, Telefónica and Salzgitter, as well as local customers.
