Wartsila Secures Second Service Agreement Renewal With Indian Energy Company Caparo Power Ltd

Technology group Wärtsilä has renewed its Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Agreement with Indian energy company Caparo Power Ltd (CPL). This marks the second extension of the original agreement, which was signed in 2010 after the commissioning of CPL power plant in Bawal, Haryana, India. The latest renewal was booked in Q4 2024 and will remain valid for five years.

The 36 MW plant operates with four Wärtsilä 34SG engines powered by natural gas. It supplies baseload electricity to nearby industries through its dedicated transmission system.

In addition to operating the plant, the agreement includes maintenance management, spare parts, operational support, and Wärtsilä’s unique Expert Insight solution. Wärtsilä Expert Insight is a holistic predictive maintenance service that proactively detects potential issues and provides actionable advice and insight to solve them.

Caparo Power Ltd is a joint venture between Caparo Engineering India Ltd. (CEIL) and Wärtsilä India Private Ltd. CEIL is a subsidiary of the UK-based Caparo Plc, while Wärtsilä India Private Limited is a subsidiary of Finland-based Wärtsilä Corp. Wärtsilä India owns a 19% shareholding in the joint venture company.
