AtomEnergoPromSbyt pilots a load dispatch centre for Rosatom's wind power division NovaWind

NovaWind, AtomEnergoPromSbyt and WindSGC launched a load dispatch centre (LDC) as part of their joint project to centralise short-term forecasting of power generation at wind farms. Operating 24/7, LDC will submit real-time power output forecasts to the wholesale electricity and capacity market operator and perform a number of other functions, such as wind farm performance analysis.

LDC uses a set of proprietary technical solutions developed at NovaWind and AtomEnergoPromSbyt to enable real-time telemetry data acquisition from every wind turbine.

“The primary function of LDC is to improve the overall performance of Rosatom’s wind power division by making short-term generation forecasts more accurate. This is what we target with our innovative decision support system that uses advanced data analysis algorithms, including machine learning, to forecast power output,” says Sergey Soldatov, LDC Head at AtomEnergoPromSbyt.

It is planned that LDC will operate in a pilot mode for the next two months. This time is spared to finish on-site training of LDC staff (dispatchers and data analysts), have dispatching regulations approved, and refine the data management, software and technical solutions employed.
