Jinkosolar to Kick Off the World's Largest N-type Ingot Pulling Manufacturing Unit in Xining With a 20GW Annual Capacity

JinkoSolar, one of the largest and most innovative solar module manufacturers in the world, today announced that it has started operations at the 20GW N-type ingot manufacturing unit in Xining, Qinghai province, which happens to be the world’s largest N-type ingot factory till date. The factory is expected to operate at 100% manufacturing capacity by September 2022.

With the solar PV industry making a shift to N-type TOPCon, JinkoSolar has also been increasing its capacity across the whole N-type vertical chain - Ingot, Wafer, Cell, and Module. Apart from the scale of this massive unit, JinkoSolar has also pioneered a new hot-zone for commercial 36” NN-type ingot growth which significantly improves the ingot pulling quality while reducing the power consumption.

In addition to the strong process yield, this 20GW N-type ingot factory will enable JinkoSolar to gain a manufacturing and cost advantage over its rivals who now must rely on third-party ingot and wafer suppliers for their N-type cell manufacturing needs. JinkoSolar, on the other hand, uses its in house facilities run and operated with the highest quality standards with the confidence to scale up as and when needed.

The Xining base will also serve as the company’s first R&D center housing thirty of senior experts, Ph.D.s, and technical personnel in the polysilicon field, focusing on N-type ingot and wafer processing optimization. The establishment of this R&D center will enable JinkoSolar to take a consistently strong lead in the N-type space and bring in regular technology upgrades.
