Ryder System, Inc. a leader in commercial fleet management, dedicated transportation, and supply chain solutions, today announced that it is named as a Green Supply Chain Partner in the annual Inbound Logistics “G75” special section, which recognizes the 75 leading companies that demonstrate a deep commitment to efficiency and sustainability. This marks the eleventh consecutive year that Ryder has been honored by the publication.
As part of its sustainability efforts, the company plans to help pave the way for the adoption of commercial electric vehicles (EV) in the U.S. Together, with an order of 1,000 medium-duty electric panel vans by Chanje Energy Inc., Ryder and FedEx Corp. executed a truck leasing and preventive maintenance agreement, primarily for Ryder’s ChoiceLease fleet. The purpose-built electric vehicles will be operated by FedEx Express for commercial and residential pick-up and delivery services in the U.S. The fleet is expected to be deployed throughout California over the next two years.
Ryder is the exclusive distribution and service provider for Chanje, as well as Workhorse, and is the sole distribution and maintenance provider in N. America for Nikola’s hydrogen fuel cell semi-truck.

As part of its commitment to sustainability across the supply chain, Ryder is also recognized for saving 100 million kWh of electricity and 180 million pounds of carbon dioxide equivalents, as well as eliminating 4.5 million empty truck miles and deriving 25 percent of jet fuel from alternative fuels.
Ryder has also been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with a SmartWay Excellence Award for reducing GHG emissions.
