The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM and the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Republic of Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy.
On the Russian side, the document signed Rosatom Deputy Director General - Director of International Affairs Department Nikolay Spasskiy, and on the Rwandan side - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Rwanda to the Russian Federation Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya.
The Memorandum is the first document in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy signed between the two countries. The document establishes legal basis for the implementation of bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas, including the development of nuclear infrastructure in the Republic of Rwanda and the development of programs aimed at raising awareness of nuclear technologies and their applications, as well as the use of radioisotopes and radiation technologies in manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare. The parties will create joint working groups to identify specific projects within cooperation.
