Training and Development

NExT, a Schlumberger company, instructs more than 15,000 technical experts each year in 11 core oil and gas industry disciplines—from characterization and exploration through development and production as well as in industry-leading software applications, including the Petrel E&P software platform.

NExT was recognized this year with the Getenergy Localization Award for its contribution in supporting local education and supply chain capacity building. Over the last two years NExT has focused efforts toward supporting local education through PetroChallenge, an educational event for students.

Participating in NExT training courses includes access to the well-equipped Schlumberger global network of learning centers and technical facilities. Attendees enhance their knowledge through multidisciplinary theory and practical programs and hands-on workshops, and also experience discipline-special simulators of field operations such as OilSim, an upstream learning simulator, a mock up drilling rig, mock-up training wells, production stimulation pads, cementing pads and completions pads.

Through a unique combination of instructor-led training, mentoring and coaching programs, field trips, and visits to technical facilities, NExT courses consistently meet industry needs through the development and delivery of leading curricula. For three consecutive years the Getenergy Awards named NExT as the industry’s Education/Training Provider of the Year.
