Gemma Power Systems Receives EPC Contract for CPV's Towantic Energy Center

Gemma Power Systems, LLC (GPS) has received Notice to Proceed (NTP) to commence activities under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Agreement with Competitive Power Venture’s CPV Towantic Energy Center project (“CPV Towantic”) to construct a 785 MW state-of-the-art dual-fuel combined-cycle electric generating facility in Oxford, Connecticut.

CPV Towantic will be constructed on a 26-acre site and is scheduled to be completed in 2018. The CPV Towantic facility is a 2x1 combined-cycle project composed of two General Electric 7HA.01 combustion turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators and one steam turbine generator. The primary fuel will be clean natural gas, however as required by the latest New England Independent System Operator requirements, the plant will be capable of operation on ultra-low sulfur distillate fuel oil.

“CPV is to be congratulated for bringing this project to fruition. CPV is a valued customer and we are pleased with the opportunity to continue our relationship by delivering another great project experience,” said William F. Griffin, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Gemma Power Systems.
