Eaton Expands PowerXL Series of VFDs With Configurations Designed to Maximize Energy Savings in HVAC Applications

Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of a new series of variable frequency drives (VFDs) designed to reduce energy consumption, improve safety and support reliable operations for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) market. With an industry-leading energy efficiency algorithm and high short-circuit current rating, the PowerXL Series DH1 VFDs are part of Eaton’s next generation of PowerXL series specifically designed to provide customers with the versatility of a common platform to unifiy facility power management and power distriribution.

“Eaton is delivering new energy efficient technologies like the PowerXL Series DH1 drive to not only reduce energy usage, but also achieve more reliable motor performance and improved personnel safety,” said Seth O’Brien, product manager, HVAC Variable Frequency Drives, Eaton.”Building upon our successful PowerXL DG1 drives series, the DH1 drive can be used across many HVAC/R applications to improve energy management and equipment serviceability.”

Very similar to the look and feel of the PowerXL DG1, the PowerXL DH1 is a general purpose drive that incorporates a patented energy control algorithm, extensive onboard industrial communication protocols and HVAC-tailored hardware, firmware and communications.

An enhanced graphical display and multiple communication capabilities are embedded in the PowerXL DH1 drive. This provides customers detailed system data to simplify installation, commissioning and maintenance. The drive also includes multiple cooling fan modes for extended temperature applications.

Also enhancing the PowerXL series line of drives, is a new enclosed plastic product offering instead of the basic metal, to improve access to quickly service the product with the wide open, streamlined design.
