TRC Companies, Inc. has completed a project with Wilson Construction Company to design, procure and construct a 250MW photovoltaic installation located in Primm, Nevada, on the California border. TRC performed the high-voltage electrical design needed to connect the solar facility into the Southern California transmission system. The project is expected to provide enough renewable energy to power 80,000 homes.
"Renewable energy is an increasingly important part of the electric supply system in California, and TRC is proud to have supported this project," said David Zarider, Senior Vice President for TRC. "This work represents a significant expansion of our energy engineering design expertise for renewable projects in the Western U.S. We are committed to helping our clients achieve success with projects that enhance reliability and support the incorporation of renewable resources into the energy mix."
As a subcontractor to Wilson, TRC provided all design and engineering necessary to complete the project. Wilson performed project management, equipment procurement and physical installation of the 34.5kV collection system, 230kV substation, and 230kV Gen-Tie Transmission Line.
"Wilson is honored to be part of this project," said Ted Leineke, Vice President of Substation Construction for Wilson Construction. "We are committed to teaming with effective partners such as TRC and look forward to working together on additional projects."
