Bullfrog Partners With Oxford Community Energy Co-Operative

Today, Bullfrog Power®, Canada's leading green energy provider, and Oxford Community Energy Co-operative (OCEC) are announcing a new renewable energy partnership in the development of the Gunn's Hill Wind Farm in southwestern Ontario.

Bullfrog Power has made a significant investment in OCEC that takes the co-operative's ownership stake in the project to a new level, a critical milestone for the co-operative. The new ownership stake ensures that the co-op will have a meaningful vote in the ongoing operational aspects of the project for the life of the development. The Gunn's Hill Wind farm project, which is to be developed in association with ProWind Canada, is proposed within the Township of Norwich and the City of Woodstock, near the communities of Curries and Oxford Centre.

"Bullfrog Power has supported renewable energy projects across Canada and their participation is a strong show of support for OCEC and the Gunn's Hill Wind Farm," said Helmut Schneider, President, OCEC. "We are encouraged by the support we have received from the community so far and are hoping to attract even more investors from southwestern Ontario who are looking to benefit from the development of clean, renewable energy."

The wind farm will be an 18-megawatt facility and will produce enough clean, renewable electricity to meet the average annual demands of approximately 6,250 homes. The wind farm will include 10 wind turbines that will be connected to the distribution lines. The infrastructure that needs to be put in place for this project includes access roads, buried and overhead cabling, a switching station and an optional Operations and Maintenance building.

"Wind power has always been an important renewable source for Bullfrog Power, which is why it is especially significant that our partnership with OCEC will allow us to support another Ontario wind farm through the Bullfrog Builds Renewable Accelerator program," said Ron Seftel, Senior Vice President, Operations, Bullfrog Power. "Bullfrog Power's contribution to this project is timely in that it contributes to the co-operative achieving 50 per cent of their targeted fundraising on the project. More importantly, a greater than 25 per cent ownership stake ensures they have a meaningful say in the project's ongoing operations."

Bullfrog Power's participation in the project is a result of the individuals and organizations across Canada that choose green energy with Bullfrog Power. Through the Bullfrog Builds Renewable Accelerator program, Bullfrog Power provides critical financial support to new renewable energy projects across Canada.
