Solectria Renewables Introduces a String Combiner with DC Disconnect

Lawrence, MA - Solectria Renewables, LLC, the leading U.S. PV inverter manufacturer, introduced a String Combiner Box (STRCOM) with an optional DC disconnect today at Intersolar North America, California's largest solar conference and exhibition. The DC disconnect allows installers, maintenance crews and first responders to turn off a solar system at the source. This option is compliant with UL 1741/IEEE 1547 and the 2011 National Electric Code (NEC).

The STRCOM's load-break rated switch (DC disconnect) is at the heart of the combiner and capable of breaking the circuit with sufficient speed to eliminate "arc" formation. The switch is tested to UL508 and listed by CSA. This string combiner box is available with 8 or 16 fused inputs, rated at NEMA 4X (fiberglass) or 24 fused inputs, rated at NEMA 4 (polyester powder coated steel).

"As soon as the 2011 NEC was released, Solectria Renewables worked to provide a solution to our customers that would be compliant," said James Worden, CEO of Solectria Renewables. He continued, "We understand the importance of safety when installing and servicing solar arrays. The DC disconnect option provides this added safety component."
